The proposal went down at a dinner at the Shelborne hotel in South Beach, and even the couple’s kids were there! James picked up the couple’s sons LeBron Jr. and Bryce and swung them around on the floor in excitement after proposing. “It was so sweet to watch,” a rep for Remy Martin, the company who hosted the party, said. “Everyone is extremely happy.”

LeBron James and Savannah Brinson (Getty) Savannah and LeBron will finally walk down the aisle after being together since high school! The two got together about 10 years ago and Brinson has stuck by her man through all of the ups and downs — and the move to Miami.

The engagement comes one day after the Heat star turned 27! Looks like 2012 is off to a great start for these two.

The search for Joe Paterno’s replacement as head football coach at Penn State is more than three weeks old, and the school has made two recent visits to Idaho that were likely attempts to convince Boise State head coach Chris Petersen to take the job, according to David Jones of The Patriot-News.  Jones reports, however, that little is known of what actually transpired on those visits.

A hire of Petersen would be an all-but-unquestioned win for the beleaguered football program.  Under Petersen, previously little-heralded Boise State has gone 73-6 in five years, and finished the 2011 season ranked seventh in the BCS standings.  But Petersen has no notable ties to Penn State, and — aside from this reported persistence on Penn State’s behalf — there is little reason to assume that he would join a program currently mired in the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal.

Jones further reports that Penn State’s second choice is current Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak, who played his college ball at Penn State.  As with Petersen, though, there is little reason to assume that Munchak would leave his current job for the uncertainties of the current situation in State College.

According to Jones, the two smaller names in PSU’s search are Duke head coach David Cutcliffe and Wake Forest head coach Jim Grobe.

Matt Leinart’s shoulder injury may end the Texans quarterback’s season, according to a tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“Texans QB Matt Leinart,” Schefter writes, “whose left arm was in a sling with a collarbone injury, said there’s a ‘pretty good possibility’ his season is over.”

Leinart was playing in relief of Matt Schaub, who also suffered a season-ending injury, and the opportunity was widely viewed as a last chance for Leinart to establish himself as a viable NFL QB.  A first-round draft pick of the Cardinals, Leinart entered the league to high expectations following a successful career at USC, but always found himself derailed in Arizona.  The chance to fill in for Schaub with the Texans seemed to offer and opportunity to lead a team with a lot of offensive firepower and an established, successful scheme.

Instead, Leinart’s start ended just before halftime on a tough hit by Jacksonville defensive end Jeremy Mincey.  He left the game having completed 10-of-13 passes for 57 yards and a touchdown, and was relieved by rookie T.J. Yates, who finished the game.  The Texans did not score after Leinart’s departure but still held on to win the game 20-13.
